Everyone talks about leaving a better planet for the children, but what about leaving better children for the planet?”
Amy Huntsman is a seasoned Infant, Child and Family Development Specialist who grew up on the West Coast and is proud of her AmeriCanadian roots. She is highly qualified and licensed in both health care and education, and delights in her lifelong journey of teaching and learning with infants, children and adults.
Amy has also become an influential writer on the subject of childcare, writing columns for Nanny Magazine and a book on childcare for industry professionals. Her new book, This is Not a Parenting Book, is a rich resource for parents, featuring guided thinking prompts to help parents reflect on their interactions with their children, get their bearings, and find solutions to parenting issues through actionable suggestions that fit easily into a family’s busy daily routines.
Amy has supported the development of many children, starting with primary care for her own siblings when she was a teenager and extending through the decades in classrooms and family homes. She is single and lives in San Diego. She enjoys scuba diving, and listens to audiobooks to survive driving in Southern California. She values time with her loved ones, and loves to travel. She also supports industry organizations in a variety of roles, and is preparing for her upcoming personal journey of single parenting.
Amy hopes to continue to inspire and equip parents and professionals with visionary, cutting-edge thought leadership and insights that will help infants and children grow into the kind of people who will make the world a better place for everyone.
